As
you can imagine, we get asked many questions by our prospective clients. We
have tried to include the most common questions on this page, so grab yourself
a cuppa and prepare for a long read (It is quite extensive). If our FAQ's do
not answer your question(s), please telephone (0191) 234 3859 and we'll
help out.

|
 |
How much do you charge? |
This is by far the most frequently asked question. Our
prices reflect a quality sound & lighting package together with a highly
experienced DJ with over 20 years in the Entertainment & Leisure industry.
We have a set rate card in operation at RSK Entertainment & Leisure. You
can get a specific quote for your Wedding Reception by checking availability
and then using our
on-line quote generator (New
Window). Please note that additional fees may be incurred due to
distance travelled and access to venue. Please telephone to discuss your
requirements. |
| |
|
 |
I have been given a quote by another company, can you beat
their price? |
RSK Entertainment & Leisure are a professional mobile disco
service and we understand that you will have a budget for your entertainment.
However, booking a DJ solely because they are cheap is a mistake that many
people make. It's a mistake that is only made once but by that time it is
usually too late. We believe in charging a realistic fee for our high
quality services. All our prices are available to view online when you use our
quoting system.
We want to be part of your special day and we want to
provide you with our superior service so we will certainly want to beat or at
least match any like-for-like quote you may have received from another high
quality Wedding DJ. Let us know when you phone or use our on-line quote system
to add a note and we will see what we can do.
Our prices reflect a high
quality entertainment package unrivalled by many of our competitors. Cheap
disco companies are cheap for a reason, perhaps they use inferior and
unreliable equipment (distorting, home built speakers together
with dirty outdated lighting). Usually they do not have the necessary
PAT certificates or do not carry Public Liability Insurance. Perhaps they are
not legally registered with the Inland Revenue and are happy to provide their
services for 'beer money'. More often than not the DJ will be inexperienced and
be unwilling to honour your requests. RSK Entertainment & Leisure
are registered with the Inland Revenue as a business. This is my full-time
profession & career, not a 'beer money gig' or part-time hobby. We
take great pride in presenting a unique, personal and individual party
experience to our clients. We offer a customer service that is second to none.
We have all necessary legal documentation and certificates. We do not
sub-contract work, when you book RSK Entertainment & Leisure it is us who
will turn up at your function. Our equipment is modern, clean and well
maintained and we always carry backup equipment. We are also the only disco
company in the North East to offer a money back service guarantee for
reliability and quality. If you do decide to book through a 'cheap' company,
then we wish you luck but please be aware of the points made above and remember
cheap entertainment is seldom good.. quality entertainment is priceless!

 |
Do you have Public Liability Insurance? How much is it for? Can
we see the certificate. |
Yes, we currently have £10 Million Public
Liability Insurance cover and are members of The Musicians Union. The
certificate is available for viewing / download on request.
|
| |
|
 |
Are you legally covered to play music at our event.
|
Yes, we are registered with PRS & MCPS /
PPLunder the Professional Dubbing Licence (1st July 2008). It is now a
legal requirement for all DJ's to hold this licence if they use digital music
files. Our certificate is available to both you and your venue manager upon
request. |
| |
|
 |
Do you provide a contract or written details of our
booking? |
All booking contracts with RSK Entertainment & Leisure are
confirmed in writing and delivered to you by Royal Mail. |
| |
|
 |
How much reservation fee do you require? |
We require a small non returnable reservation fee of £20.00 to
hold a date for you. This payment is deducted from the final balance.
|
| |
|
 |
When is the balance of the fee payable?
|
We request that the final balance of the fee to be paid by cheque,
two weeks prior to your event. Please note that we do not accept cash on the
night of your celebration. |
| |
|
 |
Does your fee include travel costs? |
Our fees include local travel costs within the Newcastle Upon Tyne
and immediate surrounding areas. Additional costs may be incurred if travel
extends these boundaries. We will discuss this with you before you make your
booking. |
| |
|
 |
What if we need to cancel? |
Should you need to cancel your contract with us, it is firstly very
important to let as know as soon as possible. By phone, Email, or using
the contact us page. If the cancellation is 30 days or less of your original
booking, unfortunately, full payment will still be required. Cancellations
where we are given longer than 30 days notice can be either rearranged
(depending on DJ availability) or cancelled completely without further charge.
The Reservation fee is always non-refundable. |
| |
|
 |
Do all fees include VAT? |
We do not charge VAT for our service as we are currently under the
threshold for VAT registration. |
| |
|
 |
Do you have Portable Appliance Test Certificates (PAT) |
Yes, we are fully PAT Certified by
NewDale Technical
Services. Our PAT Certificates are available for viewing / download on
request. [PAT Certificates are a
legal requirement legislated in the The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and The Electricity
at Work Regulations 1989. Even if you don't book with us, make sure you ask to
see PAT Certificates. If they cannot produce valid certificates then they are
operating illegally and we would recommend you avoid making a booking with
them.] |

|
 |
How long have you been established as a DJ and how long
have you been DJ'ing at Weddings? |
I began my DJ'ing career in 1985 and have DJ'd at Weddings since
this time. |
| |
|
 |
How many Weddings per year would you DJ at?
|
I personally perform at approximately 40 - 50 Weddings per year.
|
| |
|
 |
Do you provide all of the equipment? |
Yes, ALL necessary equipment is provided. |
| |
|
 |
Do you provide lighting?....Can we see pictures of your set
up? |
Yes, all lighting is provided to suit the venue / space allocated.
Images of our current lighting show(s) can be viewed on this website. We also
regularly update / renew our lighting systems. |
| |
|
 |
What happens if you are unavailable to DJ at our event,
e.g. through illness? |
This is the one occasion where obviously I would have no alternative
but to get another DJ to perform / provide equipment. The DJ company I would
select would be of equal high quality and professionalism and all relevant
information regarding your function would be passed on. However, I have never
had to cancel a performance due to illness since being in the industry.
|
| |
|
 |
Are you able to comply with a decibel restriction if there
is one? |
Our sound system has been especially chosen for Wedding Receptions.
We play at a level which is in-line with HSE recommendations. If there is a
sound limiter in operation at your function room, I would request advance
notification of this. >> read more about volume |
| |
|
 |
Do you have any testimonials we could view before making a
booking? |
Yes, There are a selection of Client References taken from Performance Evaluation returns
available for viewing on this website. These are updated regularly.
|
| |
|
 |
Do you have a demo CD that we could listen to or do you have
a booking we could come to? |
No, we do not have a demo CD. We are unable to invite you to one of
our bookings because the functions we perform at are private celebrations and
are individual to my clients. We do some of our work in pubs in the local area
however, the music and the style in which we work in a pub would be completely
different to the way we would perform at your celebration. It would therefore
give you the wrong impression. Also, I would not consider inviting someone to
your party and I am sure that you wouldn't want a total stranger turning up at
your party just to watch me. We do have a large selection of client
testimonials on this site which we hope will act as an assurance of our quality
of work to you. |
| |
|
 |
How long do you need to set up your equipment?
|
Depending on venue access, we can be set up and ready to start
playing within 20 minutes but in all instances we take no longer than an hour.
Our usual time for set-up is in the 'turn around' when the room is vacated and
venue staff will prepare the tables and chairs ready for the evening
reception. |
| |
|
 |
What time will you need to arrive? |
We usually arrive at the venue approximately 1 hour before the
contracted start time. We can discuss / arrange a suitable time for a get in
and set up when you make your booking. |
| |
|
 |
How long a break do you require during the set?
|
I do not take a break as such. During the buffet, I tend to lower the
volume and play background music until the buffet is complete. In my
experience, people will not dance when they are eating so it is always
advisable to lower the levels and take a short break while the buffet is taking
place. |
| |
|
 |
Do you require feeding? |
At Wedding functions, the DJ is usually offered a buffet or meal but
this is not an absolute requirement. |
| |
|
 |
What will you wear at our function? |
We always dress appropriately for each function we perform. At
Weddings and other formal events, this will be black trousers, white or black
shirt with tie, waistcoat and jacket. |
| |
|
 |
Do you require an area to change in? If so, please let us
know any specific requirements |
It is always preferable to be offered changing facilities but it is
not an absolute requirement. |
| |
|
 |
Do you have a play-list we can look at?
|
Every party is different, therefore I do not have a generic playlist
for viewing, however, our on-line music library contains a Top 200 songs
feature. The list is dynamically compiled based on on-line requests made over
the past 12 months by thousands of clients around the world. When you book with
RSK Entertainment & Leisure, you have access to our on-line music library
of over 60,000 songs. You can also make your own playlist on-line. If any of
the tracks you require are not in our library, I can source these tracks from
fellow DJ's |
| |
|
 |
Would you respect a list of songs that we specifically do
not want to hear? |
Most definitely, the booking form and on-line request form allows you
to include songs you would rather not be played at your celebration.
|
| |
|
 |
Can we provide CDs with songs that we specifically want to
hear if you do not have them in your play-list? |
If I cannot source music that you require to be played, then, of
course you can provide the CD's. |
| |
|
 |
Do you take on the night requests from guests?
|
As well as your personal requests, I also encourage requests from
your guests. I prefer people to approach me and ask for a particular song they
would like to be played. |
| |
|
 |
How much talk / interaction do you have during the
disco? |
Usually, I talk when I want to encourage a party atmosphere /
dancing. I sometimes introduce myself to guests at their tables before the
party starts and get one or two requests for later. In short, I generally 'let
the music do the talking'! I do however make all necessary announcements such
as requests and dedications, announcing the buffet, and any announcements given
to me by Venue Staff or MD. |
| |
|
 |
Do you announce the first dance? |
Yes, I am usually required to announce the first dance but if you
have alternative arrangements such as a professional Master Of Ceremonies
present, then that is fine also.
Rob Kirtley RSK Entertainment &
Leisure (0191) 234 3859.
